Born on July, 1943 at Shizuoka(near Mt.Fuji), Japan

Graduated University of Tokyo and entered in Foreign Ministry in 1968

Retired diplomat: Former ambassador to Cambodia and to Denmark, former ambassador in charge of reconstruction of Iraq and of Afghanistan.

Other foreign assignments include France, former Soviet Union, South Korea, the Philippines.

Current positions: Adviser to Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd., Special adviser in charge of international affaires to All Japan Judo Federation, Director for Japan of ASJA International, etc.

Hobbies: Judo (6th dan), Japanese calligraphy, brush painting

Family status: married, two daughters and one son
